Friedlander M & R Supply was founded in the early forties by Harry Friedlander as a sheet metal shop. It is now a third generation company still fabricating sheet metal products yet much more. It was not long after the business got started that contractors coming for our sheet metal goods started asking for other items as well. The first line of items requested outside of metal goods was roofing supplies. Although it has remained a part of our product line since the early days of the company, it is now a minor player in our overall operation. Nevertheless, if there is a roofing product that we can help you with, we are ready to serve you.

Sometime in the early sixties the neighborhood sign shops started coming around to buy a variety of sheet metal to letter their signs. They suggested that we start stocking painted aluminum sheets and thus the sign supply portion of our business was born. With the help of some of the pioneers of the industry we continued to stock everything that was needed to complete an entire sign. There are many sign shops that have continued to grow by expanding into the awning industry and we have grown with them by supplying those components as well to compete an entire awning just as we did for their signs.

Selling sign and awning supplies has been an example of our effort to diversify. More recently though we have reverted back to the roots of our business. We began as a sheet metal shop and the area that has grown the most of late has been our supplies to the steel and iron works trade. We have always sold sheets of metal to hardware stores and lumber yards, auto and truck body shops, and a host of other contractors, but as we have turned to a new century, we have also welcomed in greater numbers manufacturers of iron products. The range of metal is never ending. We will entertain your inquiry regardless of its thickness. Whether you need a piece of metal cut to size or a standard size sheet, we can help you.
